Justice for Aboriginal Peoples -- It's time

  1. This video made me cry because it is so very true.
I am a member of the Choctaw tribe of Oklahoma and live on U.S. government trust lands in SE Oklahoma in Choctaw housing. I think everything they said here is applicable to our tribe except the percentages may vary. Our water is not drinkable. We buy bottled water for drinking or boil it. The TB and Diabetes rates are way above the national norm. Children do not have access to good dental care. We are offered dentures as adults rather than care. This is one of the most impoverished areas in the U.S. Most criminal to me has been the assimilation of the American Indian tribes into evangelical religion and the loss of their native rituals and way of worship. Some Indians work on bringing their original spiritual traditions back but I do not see them in this area, or I would be there.
    Thank you for sharing this!
