Addendum to the I Hate Air Canada Rant

So, I'm checking in on-line for the return flight for Boy-o, Girlio and I.  And it's all well and good until I note the seats they've given us all.

Girlio and I - 11D
Boy-o - 12 F

Pardon Me?  No really.  Seriously?

Mr. Boy-o, aged 3 and 3/4 gets seated away from his parent, who is clearly stated as his parent upon ticket purchase and in all pertinent information?   I get that he has a different last name than me, but is it really company policy to seat 3 year olds on their own?

I managed to change our seats (to the last available seats together, in the very front row).  But still.

What the Hell?

  1. My friend Jenn was flying from Frankfurt to Dallas with a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and a 5 year old. All four were seated separately. Jenn handed the carseats for the two little ones to the flight attendant and said, "Okay, I'll just let you explain to the people seated next to them." Amazingly, four seats together were discovered.

  3. Air Canada....grrrr. It is a sickness that I sometimes fly with them. I have to stop and let go of the stupid points. Every trip ends in frustration.

  4. Yuh. One would hope that there would be some sensible passengers aboard, at least, who would accommodate the child being with mother as opposed to with said passenger ;-)

  5. Oh, this happened to me once too! Except the three year old with whom I was traveling was my friend's beloved offspring, which apparently was impossible for Air Canada staff to understand, because how could anyone trust someone like *me* with a toddler? Once I made it clear that "despite" not being related to my young charge, there was no fucking way I was letting her sit several aisles away from me, they hemmed and hawed and generally made out as if I was causing them a huge inconvenience. Luckily the little charmer took that as her cue to start running in circles and singing at the top of her lungs. It was 6 am and we had a 5 hour flight ahead of us, and the other passengers in the airport lounge were less than amused by this performance. Their annoyance was palpable, and the next thing I knew we were whisked onto the plane ahead of the line, and into two seats together as was originally requested. It was ridiculous, and made me reconsider every future AC flight.
